Many clinical, employment, educational, and legal settings require urine, saliva or hair test. According to the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Admin), employers can check for five illicit drugs plus, in some cases, alcohol (ethanol, ethyl alcohol, booze). These test are looking for 8 to 15 chemical compounds which are:
– Amphetamines (meth, speed, crank, ecstasy)
– Cocaine (coke, crack)
– Opiates (heroin, opium, codeine, morphine)
– Phencyclidine (PCP, angel dust)
– Barbiturates (phenobarbital, butalbital, secobarbital, downers)
– Benzodiazepines (tranquilizers like Valium, Librium, Xanax)
– Methaqualone (Quaaludes)
– Methadone (often used to treat heroin addiction)
– Propoxyphene (Darvon compounds)
– Hallucinogens (LSD, mushrooms, mescaline, peyote)
– Inhalants (paint, glue, hairspray)
– Anabolic steroids (synthesized, muscle-building hormones)
– Hydrocodone (prescription medication known as Lortab, Vicodin, Oxycodone)
– MDMA (commonly known as Ecstasy)
– THC (Found in Cannabis as well as in Synthetic Cannabis)
Simply put, the standard urine, saliva or hair drug test are looking for the compounds that herbal blends do not have. Especially if they are grown with
– organically with no pesticides
– have no additional pharmaceutically made chemicals added during the blending process.
From flavonoids to terpenes, much research has gone to the Cannabis plant to understand why and how it affects humans. The truth is ALL plants have compounds that assist us in shifting our mind state. The compounds in our herbal blends are not deemed illegal by governments. In other words, the compounds in our herbal blends are not on the list of trackable compounds for a standard drug test.
Use Mugwort as an example. This plant has terpenes that clinically show to shift our mind state. Its most active compounds are highly research in the Cannabis industry:
The terpenes found in Mugwort are not illegal substances. Therefore, any regulation on Mugwort would be impossible to enforce since she grows wild everywhere. Many of theses compounds already exist in many consumable foods. And the plant itself Mugwort, is not on any governments illegal substance list.
1st thing to look for is that the Herbal Blend states it is using NO chemicals from the list above. From the growing process to the blending process, keeping the integrity of the plant as pure as possible will insure a negative drug test. If you strive for your food to be GMO free. Wouldn’t you want your herbs to be GMO too?
2nd do not confuse Herbal Blend laced with Synthetic Cannabinoid chemicals with an Herbal Blends created by herbalist. Synthetic Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that mimic the effects of THC. They are created by pharmaceuticals as therapeutic agents for the treatment of pain. These Synthetic Cannabinoids are psychoactive chemicals sprayed on herbal mixtures. These mixtures are labeled as “fake weed”, “legal high” or “synthetic marijuana.” Keep in mind, a synthetically made science lab product will most likely show up on a drug test.
Standard drug test are only looking for the compound THC. Newer Urine Drug Test are looking for ALL Cannabinoids. That includes CBD, CBA and CBG. There is no way of knowing in advance if they are testing for THC or all Cannabinoid compounds
Cannabis is considered “Legal Hemp” when less then 0.3% THC is found in the plants lab results. The plant is considered “Illegal Marijuana” if it has more than 0.3% of the THC compound. There is currently no regulation on CBD percentages along with hundreds of other cannabinoid compounds that the Hemp plant has.
If the urnine drug test is for any Cannabinoids, consuming the Hemp plant will result in detecteable amounts in your drug test. If the test is only for THC, the cutoff for THC in the United States is 50 ng/mL. We can not predict how much consumption you would need to partake to remain below the 50 ng/mL THC testing threshold. We do know Cannabinoids stay in your system for 3–4 days with occasional usage and 7-15 days with chronic usage.
Yes false positives can happen. Specifically with Cannabinoid testing if you ingest too much Hemp Milk or Hemp seeds. Additionally with Opiate testing if you eat too much Poppy Seed bagels. Nope not kidding, even eating too much yeast can have you fail a breathalyzer test for alcohol.

Will Lobelia make me fail a drug and blood tests at MEPS because I’m thinking about enlisting in the military.
Hi!
Lobelian will not make you fail a drug and blood tests at MEPS. The compounds in Lobelia are not on the list of trackable compounds for a standard drug test.
Awesome information 👏
Thanks! So glad the information helps!
INGREDIENTS: ORGANIC
LAVENDER. ORGANIC
PASSIONFLOWER, ORGANIC peppermint , organic Skullcap, Organic Mullein, Organic Raspberry, Organic Rose. Will any of these ingredients cause a false negative?
Hi! None of those plants have any chemical compounds that Drug Test are actually looking for. The compounds in this list of herbs are not considered illegal.
Will wild lettuce give you a false positive or tall blue lettuce. An do people smoke it?
Hi! From the research I see, wild lettuce is often referred to as “opium lettuce” due to its pain-relieving qualities. The chemical compound of Lactucarium may deliver similar effects as opium — but with fewer side effects. It is not actual opium so there would be no false negative.
Herbal Blend: Damiana,Marshmallow Leaf,Mullein,Clary sage,Mugwort,Peppermint. IS Ok??
Hi Igor, yes they are ok! The compounds in Damiana,Marshmallow Leaf,Mullein,Clary sage,Mugwort,Peppermint are not being tested for in urine drug test.
are vibes rice paper cones made from hemp or have any hemp at all in them to make me fail a drug test?
Hi! No hemp papers are too processed to show up in your bloodstream.
if i have a natural blend of mullein, red raspberry, lavender, mugwort, damiana, rose petals, calendula, catnip, lobelia, and vanilla bean, will that create a positive drug test for CBD or THC?
Great question! No, mullein, red raspberry, lavender, mugwort, damiana, rose petals, calendula, catnip, lobelia, and vanilla bean do NOT contain the compounds CBD or THC. You are good to go!
